Jeff Paul: Five Things: Golden Knights 4 - Sharks 1 The Vegas Golden Knights took Game 1 of the season against the San Jose Sharks, by a score of 4-1. Mark Stone, Cody Glass, and Reilly Smith (2) scored for the Golden Knights. Marc-Andre Fleury was the winning goaltender for Vegas.

that was a steal of a trade for Vegas when they got Stone, only way its can even be a tie is if Brannstrom becomes like Karlsson. Horrendous trade for dorion..again.

I'm still kind of Salty that they had to lose Gusev and Haula for basically nothing and they are still so deep that Glass doesn't even have a regular spot in the lineup

Would have loved to have seen it all out there

Stone is one of my Favourite players but to me he's still the guy that got walked with a low effort on the GWG in OT in Game 7 last year

Could you imagine this bottom-six?

Gusev-Glass-Tuch
Pirri-Eakin-Carrier?

Would be pretty solid, if they could have made Gusev work.

He's such a strong defensive forward. I can give him a pass for a play in a vacuum, when they were on their heels for so long in the third/OT.

That's OT game 7 though, he just had no sense of urgency to pressure the puck carrier and it really left McNabb in no mans land once the pass was dished off to Goodrow

Hard to complain about the discounts McPhee got guys to take here but it feels like a slight overpay on Fleury (especially given his situation here and desire to stay), the salary retention on Tatar (to be honest the whole Tatar trade debacle)

An extra million wouldn't have made the difference, but it might have had the cap gone up an extra million or 2 like it was supposed to

And I'd love to see Marchessault still around, but here we are

The team to beat this year. Tampa can enjoy its regular season.
